Medical Camp at Tilonia

Medical Camp at village Tilonia, District Ajmer by SDM Hospital

Date : 10th& 11th July 2010

Day : Saturday & Sunday

The SWRC (Social Work & Research Centre), Tilonia, did a commendable job to perform an exhaustive screening across 40 villages around Tilonia to identify subjects with locomotor disability. 78 eligible patients were picked up by them over this 1 month long exercise.

On the morning of 10th July, our team from the department of Dr. P.K. Sethi Rehabilitation & Jaipur Limb Training Centre, SDMH comprising of six members led by our renowned specialist consultant Dr. Anil Jain reached Tilonia to serve the selected disabled people.

A mixed expression of hope & joy was visible in the eyes of all of these patients when the team arrived at Tilonia. Over the next 2 days our team led by Dr. Anil Jain displayed an untiring effort to examine the 78 subjects & advise & treat the deserving individual appropriately.

Fabrication of artificial limbs & fitting was performed for 7 patients on the spot. 46 others (amputees & polio victims) have been advised to attend the dept. at SDMH, Jaipur for a “Total Free” service.

A 55 years old lady from Mordi Kurad village, Gulab Devi, received a below knee prosthesis. She was then seen practicing a walk with the prosthesis (without the crutches for the first time ever since she lost her limb) cheerfully all through the day while the camp went on & the other subjects were receiving the same.

Dr. Sandeep Purohit, the dentist, also gave services at the camp & examined 24 dental patients and performed procedures at the already existing well equipped dental care set up at Tilonia.

The next day, 11th July, was also marked by the presence of our eminent eye specialist Dr. S. Kothari who performed an eye check on 133 handicraft workers at Tilonia and advised them appropriately.
